Expanding our Edinburgh clinic, occupational health in Scotland

Newcastle & Edinburgh Occupational Health Provider

Occupational Health Scotland

OH3 is a SEQOHS Accredited occupational health provider offering a wide range of services throughout the UK. Our Head Office is based in central Newcastle at our New Bridge Street clinic in the North East of England. However, OH3 Limited is a company that is registered in Scotland and we have been providing occupational health services in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland for the past 18 months since we moved into our Edinburgh occupational health clinic.

We look after the full remit of occupational health for our clients both onsite and at our clinics including absence management referral medicals, health surveillance assessments, OGUK oil & gas UK medicals, EBS fit to train medicals, SEQOHS safety critical worker medicals, RUK wind turbine medicals, licensed asbestos medicals, night worker assessments as well as online and face to face employee new starter medicals.

We have been steadily growing our presence and delivery of occupational health services throughout Scotland and provide services for a number of clients from the manufacturing, construction, offshore, food processing, transport and care sectors.

All of our team here at OH3 are excited to expand our existing services and move into a new clinic site which is located at Third Floor, York House, 14 South St Andrews Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2AZ. Our new premises in the centre of Edinburgh is ideally located for public transport and is situated just off Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre, being a short 160 meter walk from the entrance of Edinburgh Train Station via the Waverly Steps. The clinic also benefits from near-by pay and display parking located at St Andrew’s Square, with 72 spaces available at a very short walk from the building entrance. Our clinic is further well connected to local transport for those visiting as the nearest tram stop is Princes Street and bus stop ‘PQ’ also on Princes Street is very close to the clinic for anyone arriving by bus.

The premises have a stair lift for the first 4 steps and then lift access to the Third Floor for clients requiring assistance with mobility. We can also offer remote appointments if this is required.

Although we are expanding our clinic location in Edinburgh itself we are using this as base to boost the onsite, remote and digital services that OH3 offers as we look to provide occupational health support remotely to clients right across Scotland. OH3 can deliver health surveillance medicals which include isocyanate testing, HAVS, audiometry, lung function and skin assessments. We have the capability to place our Occupational Health Nurses and Technicians at your premises to deliver health surveillance medicals to ensure employee risk based health screening is being conducted. Onsite visits can only proceed after a covid-19 Secure Risk Assessment and strict hygiene and social measuring distancing is adhered to. If onsite screening is not permitted after a risk assessment we can provide questionnaire screening and follow up assessments as indicated until testing can resume safely in accordance with HSE guidance.

We deliver our onsite health surveillance with clients when a number of employees require these assessments. The results are stored on our occupational health ISO 27001 medical records management system and managers can receive their reports securely through the portal.

For many years we have been delivering remote absence management assessments with our Occupational Health Physicians and Senior Occupational Health Advisors, even preceding the start of the covid-19 pandemic. Many of our clients in Scotland have found these to be of great benefit as a remote session can be done safely during the pandemic and also limits travel time for employees.  Sickness absence is very costly for businesses and has a large impact on how organisations perform. One of the primary causes of this is workplace stress which often leads to recurring employee absence. Other issues which impact this are musculo-skeletal health issues and injuries. Our remote teleconsultant occupational health referrals can assist in helping your business reduce the company absence levels and we have rolled this service out to be available remotely to all any employer within Scotland. This services goes alongside our range of digital occupational health service such as our new starter assessments and display screen equipment healthy services.  Smaller companies can pay on an ad-hoc basis as and when they need access to the services.

OH3 conducts many  SEQOHS safety critical medicals for construction companies and their subcontractors which can be carried out from our Edinburgh site or onsite at the client premises for larger numbers of appointments.. Safety critical workers are those carrying out their role in an environment or conditions where safety is paramount. This could be for example a road surface layer, working alongside motorway traffic, a plant machinery operator driving large construction vehicles or a roofing worker who is working in difficult conditions at height.

As OH3 is a SEQOHS Accredited occupational health provider our safety critical medicals are of course SEQOHS approved. SEQOHS is an external accreditation that is issued by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine which goes to prove that our service is a – Safe, Effective, Quality, Occupational Health Service. This is a demonstration to our clients that whether we are working onsite at our client premises throughout Scotland, or from our new and expanded central Edinburgh clinic, OH3 delivers high standards of quality occupational health provision.
