RUK Wind Turbine Medical

Newcastle & Edinburgh Occupational Health Provider

Wind turbine worker medicals

At OH3, we carry out RUK Wind Turbine worker medicals at our SEQOHS Accredited occupational health clinics located centrally in both Newcastle and Edinburgh. Our wind turbine employee medicals are completed according to Renewable UK medical fitness guidelines, including a chester step medical test.

Our RUK medical ensures that employees who work on wind turbines meet medical fitness for employment in the challenging environment required for a wind turbine worker’s role. The RUK medical is sometimes called GWO (global wind organisation) and contains a Chester step test result on the form. Many employers instead ask for a separate OGUK certificate and Chester step certificate which we also provide instead.

After your assessment is carried out by our experienced and qualified Occupational Health Physician and Nurse team, a certification will be issued after your appointment if you are deemed medically fit to work on wind turbines.

More about OH3 occupational health

What our RUK wind turbine medicals involve

OH3 offers workers in the renewable energy sector specific medical assessments and fitness certification for work with wind turbines. The RUK/RenewableUK Wind Turbine clinical assessment evaluates fitness to deal with seaward and land-based tasks associated with work in this field.

RenewableUK wind turbine medical

RenewableUK sets the parameters for the criteria of the clinical assessment. This medical is designed to ensure that those working around wind turbines do not have any conditions or ailments that would risk their safety, particularly when they are working at height, in hot places or perhaps if they are using ladders or steps in confined spaces. These assessments help to guarantee a person’s fitness to work in conditions expected on wind turbines.

The test consists of the following, but additional medical assessment areas can be incorporated on-demand; health and medical history questionnaire, consultation with either our Occupational Health Physician or our Occupational Health Advisor, routine urine test, height and weight calculation for BMI, eye test to ensure a satisfactory level of level sight for working on wind turbines, pulse and blood pressure assessment, spirometry (lung function test), hearing test in our audio booth and a chester step test.
